In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
Praise be to Allah, prayers and peace be upon His Messenger.
- Political work for supporting Islam and realizing Muslims` interests through participation in elections and supporting some nominees, etc., are means to influence the mainstream to change it completely or partially, and this revolves within the realm of balancing between interests and corruptions. Hence, the Shari`ah ruling in this concern differs according to time, place, circumstances and conditions, and like any other activity, and for its legality, there should be certain regulations and guiding rules that should be observed, and cautions that must be avoided, so as its process goes smoothly in line with the righteous path.
- The basis in political work on the aforementioned model, and in the light of its applications and mechanisms inside or outside Islam`s domain, is a means to partial change with realizing certain benefits, and fending off certain corruptions and alleviating oppression. It would be very hard if it is adopted as a means to a comprehensive change and setting up the aspired Muslim model, as it happened in some countries, like Turkey, Algiers, etc.
- It is good if some Islamists are involved in political work, and supporting them with others in this concern whenever the interest weighs down the corruption, on condition that the efforts should not be consumed up, and that it should not be considered by those involved as the choicest means to the aspired change. Also, it should not be a means to insult others, or lead to sectarianism and dissipation of the Muslims unity, or confusing their choices, between this party or that party, and that it should not by all means divert their ways in Da`wah and educational activities.
- Political work in the West should have a political agenda that represents the minimum level of reasonable and possible requirements in this regard, and upon a party that represents Muslims in this connection, that adopts speaking and negotiating in their proxy, in order that their unity and power keep intact. If such agenda is absent from Islamic work, then efforts in this realm remain short, and can not be counted upon in restoring rights or fending off injustice.
Allah knows best.
