As-Salamu Alaykum I want to ask is Da'wa(calling others to Islam) fardh (compulsory)? If so can I fulfil my obligation of doing Da'wa by donating regularly to a Da'wa organisation? Thankyou and Salaam
Alhamdu Lillah
Calling people to Islam is a collective obligation upon Muslims. By (communal obligation) we mean: the whole community has to exert the required effort, time, and money to assure that this obligation is fulfilled sufficiently.
In order for any community to fulfill this obligation accordingly, every community member has to contribute what he can. People of knowledge have to share their knowledge and convey the message of Islam to others. Whoever has time should volunteer his time, and whoever has money needs to donate his money to support those who designate their time for this noble cause.
For you in particular, you need to assess the situation and see what kind of support your community need. If donating money is enough, then you should not worry about anything else, but if they need some of your time and experience to run the outreach programs, then you are expected to contribute some time and effort too.
